SUMMARY:
The Head of Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all facilities and equipment. This position involves strategic planning and execution of maintenance operations, leadership of the maintenance teams, and continuous improvement of equipment to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability. The Head of Maintenance plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

- Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance department and champion the York Safety Transformation by setting a positive example and leading through Visible Felt Leadership to be present and engage employees during work tasks.
- Lead, train, and evaluate maintenance personnel, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and high performance.
- Oversee the scheduling, planning, and execution of all maintenance and repair work, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Continuously improve and ensure adherence to the preventive maintenance program to reduce emergency repairs and maintain facility efficiency.
- Own, maintain, and improve Maintenance master data (Equipment tree/BOMs)
- Identify, procure, organize and maintain Spare parts.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and systems to predict potential failures and schedule preventive maintenance.
- Oversee the installation, repair, and upkeep of the plant’s property, including equipment, mechanical/electrical systems, buildings, and other structures.
- Manage the maintenance budget, including procurement of materials and services, cost forecasting, and control to ensure financial efficiency.
- Liaise with other managers and employees, particularly with regards to safety, production, and quality to ensure the efficient operation of the plant.
- Liaise with external contractors and service providers, ensuring all work complies with contractual agreements and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, adopting new technologies and processes to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in maintenance within an industrial setting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as industry best practices.
- Proven track record of managing budgets, leading teams, and implementing maintenance strategies.
- Experience with 5S+Safety, TPM, RCA, FMEA, Contractor management, and autonomous maintenance
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.<
