About the role:
As a Senior Data Scientist for the Cardiac Rhythm Management & Diagnostics research team, you will be responsible for data science projects in R&D that drive concept development and innovation related to wearable and implantable cardiac devices that advance science for life for millions of patients across the globe.
You will be responsible for executing activities related to research and development of cardiac diagnostic and monitoring capabilities, including identification, evaluation, planning, execution, and technology transfer of new algorithms, features, and products that offer innovative medical solutions to improve the health of patients. The primary data science activities include identification, classification, and/or prediction algorithms based on cardiac ECG and physiologic signals.
Work model:
This role follows an onsite work model. Employees are expected to work from our Arden Hills, MN office at least four days per week.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to biosignal-based detection/classification/prediction technologies and products
- Collaborate with teams to create data-driven solutions
- Design and implement algorithms to analyze complex datasets, and work with engineers to test and validate models
- Provide expertise and partnership for cross-functional workstreams (e.g., Regulatory submissions and Marketing/Training)
- Plan and execute laboratory, software simulations, preclinical or clinical research to prove feasibility of concepts
- Maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and contribute to scientific literature and conferences
- Participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications.
- May coordinate interdepartmental activities and R&D efforts
- Write and submit professional articles for technical and scientific journals
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
- Master’s degree in science, mathematics, engineering or a related discipline plus 3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Proficiency in Python and/or other data science programming languages and platforms
- Team player with good communication skills – written, verbal, and interpersonal
- Experience with data science techniques (e.g., data mining, machine learning and/or deep learning models)
Preferred qualifications:
- PhD preferred
- Experience with algorithm and model development for time-series or physiologic signals (e.g. classification and/or prediction models)
- Knowledge of statistics
- Knowledge of human physiology
