Job Title: Registered Nurse (Shift 11am)

Base Rate: $41.73- $61.35  

12 hr. shifts- paid overtime after 8 hours, resulting in an average rate of $48.69 - $71.57

Sign-on/Retention Bonus: $10,000 /Full Time Only

Job Summary: The Resource nurse is responsible for coordinating the patient throughput on the assigned shift. The Resource Nurse provides any needed support to ED and inpatient units to facilitate admission, discharge, and or transfer of a patient during the shift. The Resource Nurse follows the nursing process in the delivery of patient care and is responsible for the coordination of the team approach to patient care. The Resource Nurse provides clinical leadership for other nursing staff as needed and performs related duties as required, i.e., helping to secure IV, admission and/or discharge of a patient, etc. Supervises LVN’s, CNA’s Unit Secretary, and other ancillary nursing personnel involved in the delivery of patient care as needed. Works in close coordination with the House Supervisors and Nursing Director to troubleshoot patient throughput issues and ensure smooth patient throughput.

Resource nurse provides nursing care to patients in the acute setting, which encompasses a wide range of medical/surgical procedures and involves monitoring patient status and compliance and performance of procedures. Actively and consistently contributes to the delivery of patient care, operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Essential Functions:

  • Adjusts the role to support safe patient care while expediting patient throughput.
  • Accepts fluid assignment that can change based on the need of the hospital throughput, i.e., help a new grad to do IV to support faster admission of a patient from ED, helps with transfer of a patient from ED to inpatient bed and admission of the patient to speed up the transition, reduce patient admission wait time in ED, and reduce ED overcrowding and congestion.  
  • Takes active role in performance improvement and committees, as appropriate
  • Demonstrates competency in assessment skills for the patient population served including but not limited to:  

o Risk Behaviors

o EDU level and needs

o Psychosocial needs

o Clinical care

  • Maintains records for administrative and regulatory purposes
  • Facilitates the patient care workflow in the Nursing area by conducting nursing assessments, delegating service to and documentation to efficiently monitor discharges and admissions
  • Serve as a role model by providing leadership, which fosters positive attitudes and change, supports management policies and procedures
  • Trains and acts as a resource for other Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses and CN A’s, MT and US
  • Demonstrates ability to plan and coordinate care with patient/ significant others as well as other members of the health care team
  • Contribute expertise in the areas of patient follow up, telephone advice and pharmacy need as it arises
  • Serves as the bridge between staff and patients and staff and providers when there is a patient complaint, situation and/or a challenging interaction
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize patient care problems and determine nursing interventions utilizing   critical thinking in compliance with hospital policies and procedures, acceptable standards of practice and regulatory standards. 
  • Provides and evaluates patient care throughout the continuum
  • Serves as a role model for the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization and fulfills other job duties as requested within Scope of Practice
  • Maintains current competencies as well as updated knowledge in specific area of practice
  • Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external.
  • Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members.
  • Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks.
  • Basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter.
  • Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair.
  • Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
  • Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary.
  • Completes and attends monthly training assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
