  • This position works in Tampa Unit 15D as a Vocational Rehabilitation Technician.
  • Preference may be given to qualified applications with bilingual skills in English and Spanish.

Minimum Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  Experience in a counseling, job placement, job coaching or public vocational rehabilitation program can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

 

Job Description:

This is work assisting Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors to provide services to eligible individuals with disabilities related to the coordination of customer activities or special projects and in compliance with Federal and State requirements.  The person in this position is expected to perform administrative support and/or technical assistance to a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) unit and its customers.

 

Employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions;  the employee must interact courteously with others; employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit.  Attendance is an essential function of this position.

 

Receives referrals of school to work transition cases.  Refers these referrals to providers for pre-employment training.  Keeps up-to-date and accurate records of referrals.  Maintains up-to-date case notes on the referral cases.  Provides appropriate feedback to the schools.

 

Assists counselor with contract checklists.

Works directly with customers by obtaining and verifying referral information.

Receives, tracks, and submits monthly reports as assigned.

Facilitates orientation and assists in processing consumer applications for Vocational Rehabilitation services. 

Schedules appointments and notifies customer of counselor assignment. 

Conducts preliminary interviews as assigned. <
