About the role

Position Definition:                                                                                                                                   

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the study coordinator will support the coordination of a NIH/NIAAA-funded research project that aims to understand the effects of a TENS device on alcohol use disorder.

The study coordinator position is time limited; part-time (15 hrs per week) from mid-October 2024 through the end of March 2025.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct participant recruitment and prescreening, including placing advertisements, reviewing medical records, and phone screening prospective participants.
  • Conduct consent, screening, and enrollment into study.
  • Schedule and coordinate visits at the SFVAMC or by phone, in accordance with the study protocol
    • review medical history,
    • evaluate substance use,
    • administer breathalyzer,
    • administer brief structure interview about alcohol use,
    • administer questionnaires,
    • train participants on how to use the TENS device and smartphone app
  • Assist in collecting data from participant, and through the study app.
  • Assist with the management of study devices.
  • Maintain databases, participant binders, regulatory binder, regulatory approvals, and study visit tracking logs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in an associated field, preferred: Master's Degree in an associated field
  • Prior experience: 1-2 Years of experience
  • Good organizational and computer skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Comfort recruiting, interviewing, and talking with participants on the phone.
  • Preferred: Prior experience working in a hospital or clinic settings.
  • Preferred: Prior experience working at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.
  • Preferred: Prior experience working on clinical trials related to addiction and/or psychiatry.

 

Working Conditions/Environment:

The work environment for this position will include an indoor office and a medical research environment.  It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, temperature variations, etc. The incumbent may sustain posture in standing or seated position and may utilize a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.

 

The base salary range for this position is $32.00 - $44.74 per hour. The base salary actually offered to a successful candidate will take into account various relevant and non-discriminatory business factors including, without limitation, the candidate’s geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills, and education, as well as internal equity considerations. A successful candidate may also be eligible to earn additional compensation including bonuses.
