Abington – Jefferson Health, in partnership with the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University, is seeking a Board-Certified Medical Oncologist specializing in Gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies with the potential for a secondary focus in Breast Cancer.This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, academic, and patient-centered cancer program with strong institutional support and access to Jefferson’s leading research network.
Job Description
Under the direction of the Medical Director of the Asplundh Cancer Pavilion and Vice Chair of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, this Medical Oncologist provides care for gastrointestinal and/or breast cancer patients, contributes to research, and educates Residents, Fellows, and Students in support of the mission and values of Jefferson Health.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical (80-90%)
- Academic time at Jefferson (tumor board, research, etc.)
- Inpatient consultation service at Abington Memorial Hospital
- Average 10-14 patients/day
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM Asplundh Cancer Pavilion (GI and Breast Cancer patients)
- Rotating weekend inpatient coverage
Education/Research/Administrative (10-20%)
- Increase GI and breast cancer patient volume (5% annual growth goal)
- Accrue to clinical trials per year
- Participate in weekly tumor boards (Jefferson and Abington)
- Serve on institutional committees (patient safety, quality, etc.)
Teaching
- Supervise and educate Residents and Fellows
- Participate in Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center educational programs
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in solid tumor oncology with emphasis in GI with or without a secondary focus on breast malignancies
- Education: M.D. or D.O.; Board Certified in Hematology and Oncology
- Licensure: Pennsylvania medical license (or eligibility)
- Other: Research involvement and teaching experience required
