What will you do? 

A day in the life of a Cost Accounting Manager at VF looks a little like this. 

As part of the VF Accounting team, this position will oversee Coalition cost accounting, maintain accurate standard costs and inventory financial records, accurately report cost of goods sold and provide analysis of variance for all North America brands. The Cost Accounting Manager will lead a team of analysts, both onshore and offshore, that will each be assigned brands to support and act as a financial leader on the Coalition team. The position will be responsible for oversight of Cost Accounting for all North America brands; providing analysis, interpretation, and insight that enhances brand understanding of cost of goods sold and enabling brand finance to proactively manage brand margins.  

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more. 

  • Manage the Cost Accounting team supporting all North America brands. Review and sign-off on journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis related to inventories, reserves, variances, and adjustments to margin. 

  • Provide financial analysis, reports and advice to brands and other key internal customers on inventory management and cost variances. 

  • Ensure that all cost accounting close processes are documented and accurate. 

  • Develop OH rates in partnership with the brands. Maintain analysis of actual OH rates vs. plan and provide updates to Supply Chain leadership. 

  • Lead, manage, develop, and mentor the associates that report to this role 

  • Assist VF brands with the preparation of the margin variances for forecast and plan. 

  • Participate and present in inventory review meetings with operation leadership when required. 

  • Partner with brand operations regarding inventory accuracy and disposal/movement of slow moving/aged inventory. 

  • Utilize SAP and other reporting systems to develop and implement reports and analytics.

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required for this position. Additionally, ideal candidates will have 8+ years of experience and professional achievements.
