Position Summary

As a key member of the EHS staff, this position will establish best-in-class environmental, safety, and loss prevention programs supportive of GMS business interests and colleague well-being. This position supports the day-to-day operations of all on-site functions and groups. The primary emphasis is on environmental, health, and safety management, as well as colleague safety and risk assessment. In addition, this position provides technical support and leads programs that assure compliance with all applicable local, State, Federal Regulations and Zoetis Corporate Standards. The scope of the accountability may encompass strategy formulation, budget considerations, delegation of assignments, and functional management of personnel as an EHS Functional Leader to accomplish program objectives across Lincoln Operations.

Position Responsibilities

• Administer environmental, industrial hygiene, safety, ergonomic, and/ or loss prevention programs to assure that actions resulting from business decisions comply with applicable laws and regulations in a proactive, financially - and publicly sensitive manner. The goal is for all programs to be “best-in-class.” Where laws have not been developed, the incumbent evaluates what is required to achieve protection of colleague health and safety and protection of the environment. Maintain knowledge of the PGM EHS and business objectives, keeping in mind operational constraints, to determine the applicability of specific regulations, and appropriateness and effectiveness of specific compliance and control activities. Appraises emerging and established technologies for potential applicability.
• Coordinate individual environmental, health, safety, ergonomic, and/or loss control efforts into cohesive, consistent programs across all Lincoln Operation sites. Develop a strategy to efficiently implement EHS requirements within Zoetis' philosophy and policies. Key elements of this responsibility include creating and managing complex environmental and safety programs, leading assessments, and monitoring programs to identify EHS exposures and risks, and ensuring solutions are consistent with organizational objectives.
• Track external interpretations, issues, and case law to identify potentially precedent-setting decisions and their long-term impact on Lincoln Operations. Establish a reaction to state and local regulatory proposals that may affect Lincoln Operations and assist the Director in developing variances, as appropriate, for discussions with officials.
• Prepare comprehensive regulatory submissions, including facility reports and technical documents.
• Establish effective working relationships with regulatory agencies that permit beneficial negotiations about the company's interests. Functionally directs the research, development, implementation, and evaluation of EHS policies, practices, and programs to ensure that the Company meets its goals of a safe and healthful work environment, achieving compliance with all internal and external regulations and requirements, and minimizing potential for chemical releases and adverse environmental impacts. Completion of this objective requires coordination of site-wide groups, also involving representatives from Legal, Engineering, Public Relations, and medical staff.
• React and provide technical support during emergencies. Initiates, leads, and implements EHS improvement projects, and participates in EHS risk assessment, self-assessment, audit, and inspection processes.
• Leads the development and implementation of long-term strategic EHS systems and programs in support of behavior-based safety, risk assessment/hazard identification, environmental/sustainability, and colleague health.
• Recommends modifications for the improvement of established systems and programs. Serves as the catalyst leading the plant’s overall safety performance.
• Maintain a knowledge and understanding of Right First Time/Lean tools and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) as they relate to Lincoln Operations.
