Overview
Navitas is ready to invest in you! We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager in Ann Arbor, Michigan that will be responsible for leading a team of Quality employees including engineers, supervisors, and technicians and ensuring the implementation of the Navitas Quality Policy and Quality Management System.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and uphold the Navitas Quality Policy and Quality Management System
- Manage team of Quality professionals
- Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activities, including the determination of appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems during new tool or process design and startup
- Collaborate with Navitas’ customer and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design
- Provide support to Manufacturing ensuring consistent application of quality techniques
- Recommend and implement enhancements to the quality system that improve quality performance, increase customer satisfaction, and/or simplify processes to reduce costs
- Develop and manage the annual audit plan and internal auditors
- Develop and submit PPAP documents for new product launches to meet customer requirements
- Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes, review and analyze results, recommend changes to processes based upon findings, and perform follow up to verify effectiveness
- Ensure gages are calibrated, as required
- Coordinate pre-launch production trial run
- Participate in the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) and Control Plans
- Maintain Control Plans and FMEA's throughout the life of the part
- Lead and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective and preventative action, e.g. 8D methodology
- Ensure government compliance, as necessary
- Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and other departments to resolve customer complaints and concerns
- Lead quality improvement plan for strategic customers
- Work with SQE to ensure incoming supplier quality performance
- Responsible for meeting team targets and key performance indicators
- Participate in activities needed to support the QMS such as Management Review Meetings and Quality Team Meetings
- Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner
- Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
- 5-7 years of manufacturing Quality experience
- Management experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Individuals must be comfortable supporting US military-funded work and building products for US and ally military testing and use.
- Ability to read and follow process documentation / assembly prints / specifications
- Strong familiarity and experience with manufacturing processes
- Comfortable with multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Exceptional mechanical aptitude (i.e. intuitive understanding of mechanical processes)
- Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment
- Customer quality assurance experience
- Audit experience - internal and 3rd party audits
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Exper
