Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team and lead the development of our automotive service robotics platform. You will be a technical leader, contributing to the design, development, and deployment of robust and scalable software solutions across the entire stack, from backend services and databases to APIs and front-end interfaces. This role requires a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable working with diverse programming languages and technologies, and enjoys mentoring and guiding junior engineers. Experience with robotics or IoT is a plus, but a passion for learning and tackling challenging problems is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, reliable, and scalable software solutions for our robotics platform
- Lead the architecture and implementation of key system components, ensuring performance, security, and maintainability
- Develop and consume RESTful (and other) APIs and other integration methods.
- Implement and manage databases and messaging systems
- Build and maintain responsive and user-friendly front-end interfaces
- Champion best practices for software development, including testing, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their growth and development
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product, hardware, and research
- Proactively identify and address technical challenges
- Continuously learn and evaluate new technologies to improve our platform
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience (Master's degree preferred)
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong emphasis on full-stack development
- Proven experience in system architecture, API design, and hands-on implementation
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly and independently
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices, including SOLID principles and clean coding practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Oracle) and cloud-native technologies
- Proficiency in containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and messaging systems (e.g. message queues and publish-subscribe topologies)
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with front-end web technologies (e.g., JavaScript, React, Angular, Vue.js)
- Experience with robotics, IoT or edge computing development (ROS or similar platforms)
- Contributions to open-source projects
