Sustainability Strategy and Positioning, Chief of Staff, HPE Living Progress

The Chief of Staff is the lynchpin of the corporate sustainability (Living Progress) organization, which is responsible for advancing HPE’s enterprise-wide sustainable business strategy by collaborating across the company to deliver positive social and environmental outcomes that maximize competitive advantage and contribute to business success.

We are looking for candidates who are agile team players and creative problem-solvers with strong project management and communications skills. The ideal candidate will be comfortable navigating high-stakes, complex situations and acting decisively with diplomacy and tact. This role will report directly to the Chief Sustainability Officer and will partner across multiple cross-functional teams to motivate decision-makers, navigate complex projects, and drive impact. The role will oversee various facets of the Living Progress organization, including the team’s operations and finances, and our corporate positioning and thought-leadership activities related to topics such as IT efficiency, sustainability, and circular economy.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Shape and execute bold, comprehensive sustainability strategies to bring new ideas to market by harnessing our talent, championing collaboration across the organization, and communicating key metrics for success.
  • Oversee the development of sales- and customer-facing materials that articulate HPE’s sustainability value proposition and clearly articulate the company’s narrative on sustainable IT and ESG topics based on market and competitive research, customer insights, and collaboration with our technologist and innovation teams.
  • Facilitate effective communication across teams to integrate otherwise siloed workstreams and serve as “air traffic controller” for Chief Sustainability Officer and leadership team.
  • Oversee team objectives and key results (OKRs), budget, and other operational workstreams; and develop systems and solutions to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and address anticipated challenges
  • Manage ad-hoc projects as needed to fulfill stakeholder requirements.
  • Partner with and act as strategic communications advisor to executive leadership team, developing keynote presentations for our largest customer, analyst, and sales events, communicating ideas and perspectives that fuel innovation and transformation.
  • Foster a collaborate working environment that encourages cross-functional teamwork and drives substantive outcomes through a broad network of relationships and partnerships
  • Develop executive and board-level memos, applying knowledge of objectives and progress across the organization and understanding of relevant market trends and operating context.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • BA or BS in relevant field such as engineering, business administration, management, marketing, or communications.
  • At least six years of experience in relevant roles such as marketing, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, or other business-related roles
  • Proven ability to work constructively with HPE business units and HPE Marketing and Communications teams is a plus.
  • A proven ability to think strategically and drive initiatives that align with the company’s long-term goals
  • Altitude dexterity, with the ability to bounce between strategy and execution as necessary
  • Ability to translate complex, distributed and varied information into audience-resonating positioning and compelling content
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and develop deep content knowledge quickly
  • Skills in technology, finance, and systems-level thinking a plus
