Job Summary


Senior Director, Accounting and Finance/Controller leads the financial operations of our fast-growing and dynamic faith-based non-profit organization serving the entire state of Colorado. Controllers This pivotal role encompasses diverse responsibilities, from devising financial strategies aligned with our mission to managing government grants, overseeing low-income housing properties, optimizing working capital, driving ongoing system and process improvements, and overseeing the organization's accounting system.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Financial Strategy: Devise and implement financial strategies aligned with our mission, collaborating with senior leadership to shape long-term plans, annual budgets, and forecasts.
  • Government Grants: Direct government grant applications, compliance, and reporting efforts. Ensure punctual submission of documentation and accurate reports.
  • Low-Income Housing Properties: Manage financial aspects of low-income housing properties, partnering with property management to ensure regulation compliance and optimize financial performance.
  • Working Capital Management: Oversee the management of working capital, optimizing cash flow and liquidity to support ongoing operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Ongoing System and Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing financial systems and processes. Lead and guide initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness in financial operations.
  • Diverse Revenue Streams: Oversee various revenue streams, including donations, fundraising, and other sources. Innovate strategies to broaden income diversity and sustain financial health.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present meticulous financial statements and reports to leadership and the Board. Monitor financial indicators, offering insights on trends and variances.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor finance professionals, cultivating a culture of excellence and growth, while providing guidance and development opportunities.
  • Audit and Compliance: Coordinate financial and governmental audits, adhering to accounting standards and regulations. Liaise with external auditors for seamless processes.
  • Risk Management: Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies. Establish internal controls for accurate financial reporting and asset safeguarding.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with departments to offer financial insights and support strategic initiatives, adeptly communicating complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
