In this role, you will oversee the Automation Engineering Team of 5 and be accountable for delivering automated solutions for software testing and other software processes that enable timely and high quality delivery of products.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks including Cypress, Selenium and Playwright.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to promote automation practices, maximize test coverage, and improve overall efficiency. Incorporating test automation into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Apply risk-based testing principles to prioritize and allocate resources effectively.
  • Identify critical areas and potential risks in software systems, and tailor testing activities accordingly.
  • Support the creation of test strategies and plans for complex projects, considering the project scope, objectives, and risks.
  • Subject matter expert for the testing process and provide technical leadership to your team.
  • Oversee the setup, configuration, and management of test environments. Ensuring the availability of properly configured hardware, software, network, and databases to support testing efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, developers, and product managers, to ensure proper alignment of test development with project objectives.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and providing regular updates on the status of test development efforts.
  • Define and monitor key test metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of testing activities. 
  • Develop and provide detailed test reports, including analysis of test results, defect trends, and coverage metrics, to stakeholders and project teams.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance test processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and overall quality.
  • Implement new methodologies, tools, and best practices to streamline testing efforts and achieve higher productivity.
  • Advocate for a strong quality culture within the organization and ensure adherence to established quality standards and methodologies.
  • Participate in quality governance forums and drive initiatives to continuously improve software quality practices.
  • Attract, onboard, and retain talent. Invest and develop teams through coaching, mentoring, and management support.

 

Requirements

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer sciences or related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
  • 10 years of experience in software testing and development.
  • Ideally 5+ years of applied experience as a Sr. Automation Engineer, or equivalent, in a web-based software company.
  • Ideally 2+ years people management experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile team structure is a plus.
  • Strong web testing and automation skills, in-depth knowledge of automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.
  • Understanding of network configurations and how to test them.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in an enterprise environment.
  • Programing skills in languages such as Python, Javascript, Java, REST, HTML, CSS, SQL, testing modern web service API’s and web UI applications.
  • Experience testing all layers of a web application, including front-end, service layer, and back-end testing.
  • Technical planning, project management, and implementation skills.
  • Working knowledge of test management tools (Jira, Testmo a plus)
  • Ability to interact and communicate with stakeholders of varying levels of expertise.
  • Ability to translate defects and risks into business impacts, compliance risk, procedures/process changes, and user impacts.
