Business Manager – College of Emerging & Collaborative Studies

 

Full-Time, Exempt, Market Range 11

 

This position reports to the Dean of the College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies (CECS), serving as the Business Manager. This position’s primary responsibilities include serving as the central point of contact for all fiscal matters within CECS and as a key liaison to outside constituencies.  Responds to inquiries from auditors and UT administrators on fiscal matters. Serves on the Campus Fiscal Officers Committee, representing the College in fiscal matters.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Accounting

·       General ledger accounting and approvals of all financial transactions, including travel, procurement, payroll, and other human-resource-related expenditures.

·       Oversight of college accounts, both restricted and sponsored research programs, including budget development, revenues, forecasts, and expenditures to achieve the College's strategic goals for academic excellence.

·       This position is responsible for the fiscal year open and close, including developing annual budgets for approval and submission.

·       Provides oversight of expenditures and obligations of financial resources within the College and verifies and reconciles College accounts to ensure compliance with UT fiscal procedures and policies. 

 

Human Resources

·       Supervises all hiring, promotion, and termination needs for the College, including working with the University's HR and Office of the Provost to create new positions, posting position descriptions, tracking applications for search committees, ensuring proper record documentation for the Office of Access and Engagement, conducting reference checks, drafting offer letters in collaboration with College leadership, completing hiring paperwork, including the e-Verify process, and when appropriate coordinating new employee orientation, as well as submitting paperwork regarding existing employees when changes are required such as promotions, position changes/certifications, etc.

·       Responsible for recording annual reviews and submitting this paperwork to the University for raises and promotions.

·       Responsible for ensuring that University training and reporting requirements are completed by all affiliated employees and students on time as required by university policy and in compliance with local, state, and federal law.

Financial Reporting

·       Leadership of financial analyses and preparation of budgets and reports for strategic planning purposes, including a monthly report on accounts and an annual report to the College's leadership.

·       Develops, implements, and manages the College's overall operating budget; offers leadership guidance in planning budget strategies; forecasts budget projections; develops tools to monitor and track revenues and expenditures.

·       Prepares all budget transfers; analyzes budget trends, surpluses, and deficits to ensure year-end balanced budgets; prepares, implements, and manages centrally funded budgets.

 

Grant and Contract Support

·       Proactively working with faculty and associated fellows to submit proposals for externally funded grants
