Compensation: $ 63,240. - $ 88,536.


The Translations and Interpretations Manager is a central office-based position and will work closely to achieve, supervise, and uphold the CMSD Translations & Interpretations Policy set forth. The Translations Manager leads to improving and maintaining the accuracy and manages the school-level translations and interpretations as they pertain to legal matters. The manager will also be responsible for supervising translation and interpretation specialists as well as managing the translations and interpretation budget.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

THIS ROLE WILL:

  • Assist the Executive Director in coordinating the development, managing, overseeing, and upholding CMSD’s Translations & Interpretations Policy
  • Respond to inquiries from Principals, Teachers, Special Education, Hearings and Appeals and Multilingual Program Managers
  • Assist with the Departmental and Building level Professional Development and other events
  • Check the reliability, validity, and accuracy of data submitted by school staff
  • Supervise the entire translations subdivision within the Multilingual Department, including but not limited to overseeing and evaluating between 3-6 translators/interpreters on staff, budgeting and negotiating contracts with outside sources to serve in the capacity of translating for low-incidence languages
  • Make decisions on the subdivision translators/interpreters on their work assignments and daily duties and responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Director in allocating resources for the translations subdivision and stay compliant with the Office of Civil Rights mandates
  • Monitor the completion of translation/interpretation documentation including IEP / ETR Conferences, Progress Reporting, Discipline Hearings, IEP/ETR & other type of formal written documentation, etc.
  • Work with the compliance requirements from the Ohio Department of Education and LEP Assistance Plan
  • Share information on Translation/Interpretation development and completion in the District approved system
  • Verify and keep data log on the completion of oral interpretations and written translations for accurate submission to the Ohio Department of Education
