This position is part of the Gene Reading Solutions Software Team located in Boulder, CO and will be fully remote (on-site optional). We are a team of software engineers tasked with creating and maintaining tools to accelerate the development and analysis of IDT’s distributed oncology assays. We are looking for a skilled Staff Software Engineer to help our team enable precision medicine in laboratories, hospital systems, and research centers around the world. This role includes management responsibilities.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Create world-class data analysis products for cancer researchers and clinicians in close partnership with product owners, bioinformaticians, molecular biologists, and the rest of the software team
Support the growth and performance of a small group of software engineers
Engineer robust Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data processing workflows optimized for accuracy, speed, adaptability, and scale
Debug data processing across distributed systems, identifying root causes of undesirable behavior and ensuring reproducible results
Participate in code reviews and pairing to ensure code quality, distribute knowledge, and reinforce best practices
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another relevant field (or equivalent experience)
At least 6 years of experience in a Software Engineer role
At least 3 years of experience working with NGS data
Proficiency in modern Python and container technologies
Strong written communication
