Seasonal Field Worker

This position is intended for a Junior level or higher student who is majoring in an Agricultural related major. This position will be required to perform routine repair and maintenance tasks along with trouble shooting of breakdowns on specialized harvest equipment.  Perform periodic equipment inspections, identify unsafe conditions, document and perform necessary repairs.  Be involved in all aspects of the harvest operations by communicating with the Maintenance Coordinator and harvest supervisors along with other mechanics.

1. Perform routine repair and maintenance tasks on specialized equipment.
2. Trouble shoot the causes of mechanical failures on said equipment and perform the required repairs.  
3. Be involved in the overall harvest process of various crops.
4. Assist the Maintenance Coordinator by (1) specifying required parts, (2) completing all documentation i.e., work orders, part request and service records.
5. At the end of the internship provide a report on the overall experience of working in a production environment and provide a list of recommendations that would be a benefit to our operation.

Vehicle is provided and expenses are paid. Working conditions are performed outside subject to the elements.  Extensive travel driving within California approximately 15,000 miles during season is entailed.  Extensive over-night travel will be required during harvest usually on a 6 days– on and 1 day – off schedule.
