Job Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months with the possibility of conversion to full-time employment
Schedule: Flexible 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 8:00pm Pacific Time, with occasional nights and/or weekends as needed for high priority work.
Work setting: Palo Alto or Bay Area, CA or Remote (mainland USA only)
Travel: willing to travel occasionally
Responsibilities
SambaNova Systems is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Systems / Operations Engineer to help a specific SambaNova Systems customer deploy, operate and securely manage their SambaNova platform and services.
The ideal candidate for this highly critical role will have deep hands-on experience in systems and infrastructure engineering, good software and coding skills, and a strong passion for troubleshooting and problem solving.
In this role, you will use your excellent verbal and written communication skills to:
- support and guide the end-user customer regarding SambaNova hardware and software tasks. (The users will perform all hands-on keyboard work while you guide them.)
- be the liaison between the end-user customer and the SambaNova Systems team
- guide and work with smart hands to troubleshoot physical hardware
- describe in detail to an individual who may have never touched hardware before, how to reseat a cable or replace an individual component or the entire unit
- create and maintain clear and concise documentation
- convert internal documentation to be presentable and understandable to the end-user customer
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5-10+ years of related industry experience
- 5+ years of Linux admin + server hardware experience
- 2+ years working with Ansible
- US Citizenship is required along with the ability to pass all background and government clearance checks
Additional Required Qualifications
- Expert level experience with container ecosystem (deployment, management, troubleshooting)
- 3+ years of Kubernetes experience
- Experience troubleshooting system and application layers
- Ability to work independently with customers for triage and isolation of applications
- Ability to dig into logs and backend services to do an RCA report
- Report bugs or RFE to the Platform Team
- Linux administration and server hardware experience (deployment, troubleshooting, monitoring, and regular maintenance)
- Experience with RHEL 8.5+
- Experience with managing physical x86 servers remotely
- OS deployment experience via various means (kickstart, out of band, and locally)
- Troubleshooting hardware and OS issues
- Experience working with NFS
- Automation and Scripting (Bash, Ansible, Python3)
- Ability to create from scratch or augment existing ones
- 2+ years working with Ansible
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Platform 9
- Machine Learning - high-level understanding of everything related to how training a model works
Annual Salary Range and Level
The base wage for this position ranges from $110.00/hour up to $150.00/hour. This range is based on role, level, and location and reflects the salary target for new hires in the US.
