Satellite Communications Engineer

Astor & Sanders Corporation (Astor) is an award-winning IT solutions provider headquartered in McLean, VA and is seeking a Satellite Communications Engineer. This is a full-time position and is 100% remote.

Roles & Responsibilities: 

• Design satellite communication systems to facilitate the efficient transmission of data. This involves selecting appropriate equipment, determining the required bandwidth, and optimizing the system for reliable data communication.
• Determine the data rates needed for various applications, considering factors such as the type of data being transmitted, latency requirements, and the overall capacity of the satellite communication system.
• Integrate satellite communication systems with ground-based data networks. This involves configuring interfaces, ensuring compatibility with terrestrial networks, and implementing protocols for seamless data transfer.
• Ensure a consistent and reliable quality of service for data transmissions
• Additional duties as assigned
  

Skills & Experience: 

• 7 years of experience working as a Satellite Engineer
• In-depth knowledge of satellite communication protocols and technologies
• Demonstrates extensive technical expertise of engineering principles and practices
• Experience in engineering and integration of satellite hardware and software
• Active Secret Clearance required
