Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Battery Electrical Engineer for JD Power Systems located in Cary, NC, Morrisville, NC or Fuquay Varina, NC, you will...
- Lead the electrical design and implementation of battery integrated mobile chargers following the Product Delivery Process (PDP), ensuring all activities and plans are formulated and followed to launch the product into production.
- Design the electrical architecture and power distribution componentry to interconnect all electrical devices within the mobile charging system, including controllers, power converters, smart inverters, auxiliary connectors, displays, telematics, user interfaces, lighting, batteries, contactors, and pre-charge circuits.
- Develop robust solutions with product requirements, DFMEA, DVPR verification, that meet customer needs and industry standards for mobile charging equipment at jobsites and recharge stations, including working with 480VAC and 800VDC power and interconnecting wired and wirelessly with utilities, BEVs, and remote charge management systems.
- Collaborate effectively across functional teams and with leadership to meet program targets for performance, cost, timeline, durability, ease of service, and manufacturing.

What Skills You Need
- 5 or more years’ experience in product development in the electrical system design and validation
- 5 or more years’ experience in part design and release process using business tools such as SAP, Windchill, Creo and PartsAdvisor.
- 5 or more years’ experience in the design of wire harnesses, power cabling, and power distribution units, using modeling tools such as Creo and Capital Harness System
- 5 or more years’ experience in the electrical system virtual analysis and simulation using MATLAB, Capital Harness Systems, Dymola etc.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Working knowledge of DC circuits, AC circuits, power conversion, and lithium-ion battery pack technology
- Working knowledge of international standards ISO, IEC, DIN, SAE, UL/CSA
- Demonstrated ability to constructively work with suppliers in the design of components.
- Demonstrated ability to constructively work with cross functional teams and with people of different cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to generate product/system requirements documents of significant magnitude.
- Possess good understanding and knowledge of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process
- Demonstrated problem solving, analytical skills and ability to work independently as well as with others.
- Experience with electric vehicles or battery powered equipment.
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline with experience
