The Medical Assistant utilizes medical and administrative skills to provide support to patients and healthcare staff under the supervision of a physician or nurse. Cleveland Clinic’s Ob/Gyn & Women’s Health Institute is committed to providing world-class care for women of all ages. We offer women's health services, obstetrics, and gynecology.
A caregiver in this position works 8 a.m. -- 5 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assist with performing screening and treatments by gathering information related to health maintenance, collecting specimens and documenting patient care.
Update health maintenance at patient visit, accurately identify medication changes and update allergy information at each visit.
Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition. Administer specific medications under direction of provider.
Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting.
Maintain examination areas.
Assist in pre-visit planning by updating the health maintenance tab.
Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting program
Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) within new hire period
Current demonstrated clinical proficiency
Completion of a clinical externship (extensive clinical experience may be considered in lieu of a formal clinical externship)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
CMA, NCMA, CCMA certification
Successful completion of Cleveland Clinic externship
