IT Advisory Sr. Business Architect

Zurich North America is currently hiring an IT Advisory Sr Business Architect, and this person will work in a hybrid schedule at our Schaumburg North America HQ and will report to the Technology Strategy Lead within the Advanced Technology & Enterprise Solutions team.
 

Responsibilities:

• Build strong partnership with business leaders to understand their strategic direction and identify opportunities and approaches where technology can be applied to drive growth, improve efficiency, enhance stakeholder experience, etc.
• Lead efforts to integrate knowledge of business aspirations, current state challenges, target state design, technology stack, internal IT capabilities and external solutions to help create long-term/multi-year technology roadmap
• Help business and IT stakeholders understand effort, risk, impact, and trade-off of technology decisions through rigorous, data-driven analysis
• Troubleshoot and analyze tough technology problems and take end-to-end ownership to drive them to full resolution
• Effectively manage stakeholder expectations and involvement through timely and high-quality verbal/written communication
• Lead cross-functional teams or projects with moderate to significant resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity
• Organize and manage multiple assignments with potentially competing priorities and deadlines, while adhering to departmental guidelines and expectations
• Build and maintain a constructive and supportive relationship with business and IT leaders to influence direction 
• Represent IT in the development and continual review of key business strategy and plans for specific areas
• Cut through complexity and ambiguity to communicate and facilitate - help leaders visualize concepts, simplify complex scenarios, influence prioritization & consensus
• Communicate difficult concepts; converts information to compelling business context and advice; influences and gains alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders 
• Engage in conversations on a wide spectrum – from high-level strategy to granular processes and system details
• Build thought leadership in emerging technology trends and help educate the broader organization
• Drive business and IT adoption of emerging technology solutions, including AI/ML, DevOps, IoT, OCR, Cloud, RPA, etc.
• Works autonomously as the lead and guide/coach/empower junior resources

 

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area AND
• IT Strategy

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree
• Energized by using technology to drive innovation and value creation
• Passionate about leveraging applications and solutions to drive productivity improvement
• Experience in business architecture and/or technology strategy
• Proven ability to bridge business needs and technology solutions while considering qualitative/quantitative impact to devise strategic options
• Experience with managing multiple enterprise projects with competing priorities
• Experience with working with senior business leaders on strategic technology topics
• IT consulting experience (internal or external) 
• General knowledge of financial services industry including knowledge of insurance business processes 
• Structured problem-solving analytical skills 
• Ability to succinctly communicate (verbal & written) complex topics via simple terms and tailor approach based on audience and message
• Willingness to learn plus a get-it-done mindset with a strong bias towards action
