The Extracellular Targeted Cancer Therapeutics (ETCT) Biology Unit within the Oncology Research Unit is seeking an experienced Senior Scientific Director for Innovation to lead outwardly facing technology initiatives designed to accelerate the build of a targeted biologics portfolio in Oncology. The incumbent will lead an experienced team of scientists’ in using bioinformatic data for target ID/validation and interface with key internal/external business partners to accelerate next generation ADC and bispecific antibody development. Additionally, this position will involve working closely with the business development team to identify, assess, and integrate cutting-edge technologies, therapies, and solutions into the research unit portfolio. The successful applicant will have prior experience managing scientific personnel and leading matrix teams with oversight of critical path biology in the preclinical development of novel biologics for cancer therapy.
As a Senior Scientific Director in ETCT, your responsibilities will be to:
Play a key role in advancing GSK’s growing pipeline of tumor targeted cancer therapies.
Develop and implement a comprehensive innovation strategy aligned with Oncology's goals and objectives.
Work within a dynamic environment to drive execution of the Innovation team strategy, thereby influencing the direction of the targeted biologics portfolio in Oncology.
Prioritize innovation projects and allocate resources effectively to drive successful outcomes.
Guide the maturation and de-risking of novel therapeutic concepts through rigorous mechanistic testing in partnership with internal and external business partners.
Provide data-driven recommendations for the adoption or integration of technologies.
Perform scientific due diligence review of in-licensing opportunities with the business development organization.
Proactively identify and evaluate emerging technologies, therapies, and trends in the field of Oncology.
Maintain a strong network of key opinion leaders in industry, government, biotech, and academic institutions to stay informed about the latest developments.
Collaborate with business development teams to establish strategic partnerships and alliances with external organizations, including startups, research institutions, and pharmaceutical companies.

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
PhD in Cancer Biology, Pharmacology, Immunology or related fields with 3+ years post-doctoral training.
10 or more years managing scientific staff including talent holding advanced degrees/industry experience.
Experience in progressing cancer therapies through preclinical milestones and supporting critical path mechanistic biology.
Experience defining/executing target discovery/validation and experimental medicine development of biologics for cancer therapy.
3 or more years of leading drug discovery project teams to develop novel therapeutic platforms for biologics targets.
Experience developing and implementing scientific strategies in Oncology.
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
10+ years pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry research and leadership experience.
Experience establishing scientific relationships in Oncology.
Management experience for a range of scientists including biologists, chemists, cellular/molecular biologists, cell-based assay developers, flow cytometry/CyTOF experts, and computational biologists.
Prior experience in developing T cell redirecting bispecific antibodies (TCEs) or applying chemistry to biologics to create next generation therapeutic platforms such as antibody drug conjugates (ADCs).
Prior experience in conducting scientific due diligence in an industry setting.
Willing and able to travel for direct participation in site diligence for in-licensing/partnering needs.
Strong peer-reviewed publication, public speaking / presentation and/or inventorship record.
The ability to work independently with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
