Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Electronic Security Services Technician to support the design, installation, and maintenance of integrated electronic security systems across infrastructure, transportation, and government projects. This role is essential to delivering secure, resilient, and code-compliant physical security solutions for AECOM’s clients.  This position is an on-site role located at the client’s facility in Alexandria, VA.


The selected candidate will work on large-scale video management systems, server administration, and system integration in transit environments. They will work with multidisciplinary engineering teams, subcontractors, and client stakeholders to implement access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and intercom systems. The technician will ensure systems are installed and maintained in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client security requirements. A commitment to quality, safety, and collaboration is essential to delivering secure infrastructure solutions for AECOM’s clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain electronic security systems including:
  •   -  Access control (e.g., Lenel, HID, AMAG)
  •   - CCTV and video management systems (e.g., Avigilon, Axis, Milestone, Everbridge IPSC)
  •   - Intrusion detection and alarm systems
  •   - Emergency communication and intercom systems
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments including clustered and high-availability configurations
  • Manage SQL databases and support live/test deployments for video management systems
  • Develop and deploy custom modules to enhance system functionality and emergency response
  • Deliver hands-on training to end users and operations staff on video and security systems
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to integrate new security systems and maintain existing implementations
  • Act as primary liaison to vendors and third-party support teams, managing service tickets and updates
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, service records, and system configurations
  • Ensure compliance with AECOM safety protocols and client-specific security standards

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Four years of experience in electronic security systems installation and service or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Proficiency in low-voltage systems, structured cabling, and IP-based security technologies
  • Experience with system commissioning, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and Microsoft SQL Server

Preferred:

  • Technical certification or associate degree in electronics, IT, or related field
  • Experience working on infrastructure, transportation, or government facility projects
  • Certifications such as NICET, BICSI, or manufacturer-specific credentials (e.g., Genetec, Lenel, Milestone)
  • Familiarity and experience with federal and state security compliance standards (e.g., FIPS 201, UL 294)
  • Knowledge and experience with cybersecurity best practices for physical security systems
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Visio, or other design/documentation tools
  • Experience in integrated security systems, video management, and server administration.
  • Experience and demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving, communication skills, and the ability to work independently in dynamic project environments.
