NOTE: This position will require travel to different sites in throughout the month, with a home base in our South Seattle operations

THE ROLE

Under close direction, plans and carries out policies relating to all phases of Human Resources activity. Completes assignments related to salary administration, recruitment, job evaluations, performance management, employee benefits, organization studies, employment activities and other special projects.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Plans and carries out policies relating to all phases of Human Resources activity. Completes assignments related to salary administration, recruitment, job evaluations, performance management, employee benefits, organization studies, employment activities and other special projects.
  • Works with manager in addressing issues related to employee performance and conduct.  Keeps manager informed on employee relations issues.
  • Adheres to all local, state and federal regulatory requirements and policies, procedures and standards.
  • Compiles statistical data and analyses for local salary administration purposes and other functional areas.  Prepares Employee Status Change Forms.
  • Answers routine personnel inquiries as well as policy and procedure questions.
  • Communicates leave administration program policies, procedures, requirements and processes.
  • Coordinates and tracks employee Leave of Absence in compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements; prepares paperwork and explains employee eligibility and responsibilities; keeps supervisor informed as to the status of employee leaves; works with Human Resources Manager on escalated situations; maintains files according to policy and records retention requirements.
  • Assists Human Resources Manager in recruiting, interviewing, selection and orientation of prospective employees.
  • Maintains local records for personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations and maintains local appraisal and position description files.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

  • Two years general experience in human resources including specialized knowledge in one or more human resource focus areas (i.e., recruitment, leave administration, performance management, employee relations, policy, training, etc.)
  • Principles, practices, laws, applications and programs in position in Human Resources including specialized knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws, regulations and ordinances as well as human resource theory and practice.
  • Current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Computer programs, including Microsoft Offic
