SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of the Human Dimensions Specialist and/or the Communication Section Supervisor performs a variety of duties in the Communication Section and/or Communication and Education Division. As the position will be supervised by the Human Dimensions Specialist, there will be opportunities to assist with conservation social science research while also gaining experience in other communication section priority areas such as production of content for various communication channels, distribution of education materials, public speaking, assistance with fishing clinics and hunter education and data entry.
JOB DUTIES:
Answer telephones when communication staff is not available, open and sort mail, greet visitors.
Assist with data entry and analysis of social science data.
Assist with creating content for various communication channels to include writing articles for the magazine, writing content for the ODWC website, assisting in collecting and sorting through video content.
Scan, file, and shred confidential paperwork.
Assist in proofreading various typed and printed material.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Must have the ability to:
- Lift and carry standard office equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships, work independently, and be professional and courteous with the public, employees, other agencies, and other partners.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in public speaking situations and be able to express oneself clearly and concisely in writing.
- Use personal computer and various other office equipment. Should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and have an overall understanding of internet-based computer applications.
- May be required to occasionally work extended hours and weekends with occasional travel requiring overnight stays.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Must be actively pursuing a degree in one of the following: wildlife conservation science, wildlife ecology education, biology, zoology, communication, marketing, journalist, education, social science, other wildlife related degrees.

EXPERIENCE: Experience is not required but will be considered to select the best candidate.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Requires word processing, data entry, typing, proofreading, spelling, punctuation, and filing procedures. Must be able to communicate efficiently.
