Position Summary

As the Associate Director of MS&T Cryogenics & Cold Chain Sciences, you'll lead a team of scientists and engineers to develop and implement strategies for biologics drug substance freezing, thawing, storage, and shipping processes across the BMS network. You'll define the process control strategy for cryogenics manufacturing and set the technical strategy for drug substance cryogenics and cold-chain processes.

Using state-of-the-art experimental approaches, you'll formulate in-process control strategies and develop innovative technologies for cryogenics commercial manufacturing processes. You'll also develop novel methodologies to enhance our understanding of cryogenics processing and establish business processes for our cold-chain biologics strategy.

Working effectively in cross-functional project teams and independently, you'll accomplish company goals and drive the success of our cryogenics and cold chain processes.

Position Responsibilities

• Lead a team of scientists and engineers in the Cryogenics & Cold Chain Sciences group to develop and implement cutting-edge technologies for freezing, thawing, and shipping biologics across the BMS network.

• Direct the cryogenics characterization laboratory activities and define the global strategy for managing and harmonizing the qualification of DS shipping lanes and primary containers, ensuring the highest quality standards for our biologics operations.

• Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and cost efficiency, such as implementing the 5S methodology, to drive continuous improvement and excellence in our business processes.

• Interact with global Health Authorities during site inspections and contribute to submissions, regulatory responses, and briefing documents, showcasing our expertise and leadership in the field.

• Plan and execute multiple projects and strategic initiatives to support the development and implementation of new processes and technologies.

• Recommend and execute strategies for cryogenics and cold chain processes to support technology transfers between DS and DP sites, ensuring seamless integration and collaboration across the network.

• Serve as the subject matter expert for network investigations and change controls pertaining to DS cold chain and cryogenic processes.

• Collaborate globally with Supply Chain, Regulatory, Quality, Process Development, Engineering, and Operations across internal and external DS and DP sites, building strong relationships and driving impactful results.

• Advise the biologics operations senior leadership team by presenting project direction, options, and recommendations at key governance forums, shaping the future of our cryogenics and cold chain strategies.

• Develop top talent with well-established succession plans, creating a pipeline of future leaders who will continue to drive innovation and excellence in our cryogenics and cold chain processes.
