About the role

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for supporting the procurement strategy by maintaining supplier relationships, coordinating long-term agreements and partnerships, and leveraging historical procurement data. This role will focus on helping optimize the company's buying power, ensuring cost efficiencies, and securing high-quality goods and services to meet business objectives. For captured contracts, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist will review demand data, validate requirements from corresponding source, and coordinate long term agreement with OEMs, Distributors, Repair facilities and other sources of supply or services in accordance with Company policies and in coordination with the Contacts department. This role is responsible to ensure purchase requisitions are received and Purchase Orders placed within the signature authority according to established processes utilizing the company’s Enterprise Resource and Planning (ERP) System to record all transactions.  This role will ensure the RFQ and Purchase Order requirements from issue through material delivery or completion of services are accurate and timely, and coordinate, track, and expedite all open items. This role may provide formal training or On-the-Job Training (OJT) to new employees on Procurement processes, procedures in accordance with company and departmental policies. Generate procurement status reports as required by the program/customer. Delegate procurement tasks and provide oversight to procurement personnel.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Support and maintain relationships with suppliers in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Evaluate supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality and delivery standards and contractual obligations.
  • Support and champion supplier development initiatives to enhance capabilities and align with company goals

 Market Analysis:

  • Identify sources of supply and repair and obtain information on product and/or service specifications, price, delivery dates, and ensure all applicable data is current.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and stay informed about industry trends as assigned.

 Coordinate Long-Term Agreements and Partnerships:

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for strategic partnerships with suppliers as assigned.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sourcing strategies with overall business objectives.

Procurement Data Analysis and Contract Leverage:

  • Continuously analyze procurement demand history to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Leverage existing contracts to maximize the company’s buying power.

 Cost Management and Optimization:

  • Continuously seek opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality and service levels.
  • Monitor market trends and assess their impact on procurement strategies.

 Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with supplier relationships and contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Guidance and Training

  • Execute end-to-end procurement processes, solicit quotes and issue purchase orders, including requisition review, supplier selection, and negotiation as assigned.
  • Train, formal or OJT, employees new to the department according to processes, procedures in accordance with policy.
  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Delegate and oversee procurement functions to junior procurement personnel.

Other Duties

  • Represent S&K with professional demeanor at scheduled events and during virtual meetings with customers.
  • Travel in support of conferences, meetings, reviews, and other related activities as assigned. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of management.

Education

  • BS degree in engineering, business, logistics or related field required. Related work experience may substitute for the education requirement. Each 2 years of related experience is equivalent to 1 year of college.

Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a related field is required.
  • Requires experience in commercial and military Aftermarket & MRO services and complete understanding of sourcing, purchasing, shipping, and receiving of aircraft and aircraft system components.  
  • Experience using ILS, LogiQuest and/or Quantum is preferred.
