About the role

Overview

At FTI, we are united by one common mission; supporting those that protect our nation so they can make the best-informed decisions during critical moments when seconds count. We want you to bring your passion and expertise to contribute to that essential mission.  We strive to incorporate our values to create a culture of collaboration and trust, where you can share your ideas and innovate.  If you are inspired by making a positive impact through developing data driven solutions, FTI would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about you.

We are hiring a Transition Project Manager (TPM) to provide dedicated program management and engineering support for transitioning select RDT&E ammunition and weapons projects into Program of Record capabilities for USSOCOM PEO Special Operations Forces (SOF) Warrior, PM-SL. These projects will primarily originate within ASW SO/LIC CD&I, previously IWTSD, and S&T directorates, but may include efforts from other government agencies and SOF to Service transitions. The rapid RDT&E advanced capability projects requested by and in support of USSOCOM SOF Components (JSOC, USASOC, MARSOC, NSW, AFSOC) will focus on Precision Strike (Lethal Small UAS), Visual Augmentation Systems, Target Engagement, and Ammunition/Munition capabilities.

In this role, you will leverage a strong background in all aspects of program acquisition, including developing requirements, drafting acquisition plans, providing engineering oversight, coordinating logistics, performance verification, safety release processes, developmental and operational testing, fielding, and sustainment.  This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your SOF and DoD acquisition expertise in support Special Operation Forces and national security.

This work is based at the PM-SL office at MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL.  Telework options may be considered based on mission requirements and PM-SL leadership approval with preference for those located in Tampa, FL, Crane, IN; Picatinny, NJ; or the greater Washington D.C. area.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead for USSOCOM PM-SL Program Managers and serve as the focal point for government S&T offices, facilitating collaboration between CD&I, other S&T offices, and lethality commodity areas.
  • Expedite development and transition of emerging technologies.
  • Solve macro to micro-level problems, such as outlining and documenting safety and IHC processes, and finding solutions to minimize transition cost, risk, and schedule.
  • Facilitate collaboration between CD&I, USSOCOM, big-services, and foreign partners to leverage resources, reduce cost, and schedule of programs.
  • Guide technology development to fulfill operational gaps and ensure USSOCOM operators maintain the lethality advantage on the battlefield.
  • Oversee all areas of program acquisition, including developing requirements, drafting acquisition plans and schedules, providing engineering oversight, coordinating test plans, coordinating logistics, and outlining life cycle support.
  • Observe testing or provide guidance as required by USSOCOM.
  • Participate in directed progress reviews and status briefings to assist USSOCOM with planning for additional efforts that may benefit the current or future PM Lethality POR portfolio.
  • Validate that specified testing is conducted with approved procedures on calibrated equipment.
  • Assist in proactive scheduling of required performance verification testing and safety testing and reviews in both RDT&E phase required for SOF Component OT&E and Acquisition POR phase (F&DR).
  • Record and archive test plans and reports; identify and recommend efficiencies in RDT&E execution, schedule coordination between S&T schedules and Program of Record schedules, and efficiencies in testing that can be used in acquisition to reduce time and cost.
  • Maintain awareness and familiarity with all current and future PM-SL acquisition efforts as well as CD&I (IWTSD) projects.
  • Assist with running and planning the PM SL International Special Operations Forces (ISOF) Range, conducted annually as part of the PEO level SOF Warrior Innovation Technology Collaboration Huddle (SWITCH) events.
  • Attend Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings (location TBD) to cover Mid-Tier and Major Systems Acquisitions Program of Record Developmental Testing / Operational Testing events.
  • Supported efforts include, but are not limited to:
    • Ammunition
    • Weapon Systems
    • Visual Augmentation Systems
    • Precision Strike Systems
  • Complete other assignments and duties as assigned.
