Health Physicist - Morristown Medical Center - Full Time 9a - 5p M-F

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full-Time Health Physicist for the Radiation Physics & Safety Department. Primary coverage will be at Morristown Medical Center, with cross-coverage at other AHS facilities expected. This position will report to the Manager/Chief Physicist.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Assist with establishing, maintaining, and implementing policies, procedures and protocols that adhere to the requirements of various regulatory agencies and the recommendations of nationally-recognized professional organizations, certifying bodies, councils, commissions and societies.
- Assist with maintaining radioactive materials licenses, as per applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform dose calculations and provide radiation safety advice & consultations to occupationally exposed individuals, as needed.
- Provide radiation safety instructions to patients receiving therapeutic quantities of radioactive material who will be discharged to the public as per regulatory requirements.
- Perform patient & fetal dose calculations as necessary.
- Assist with investigating, analyzing and recommending corrective and preventive actions following medical events, incidents and dosimeter exposures exceeding established limits.
- Perform quarterly radiation safety audits in Nuclear Medicine, PET and Nuclear Cardiology sitesat AHS, and on Radiation Waste Management.
- Provide radiation safety in-service lectures to new employees, students, and other hospital employees and physicians.
- Conduct lectures & board reviews for Radiology Residents on topics related to Health Physics and radiation safety.
- Perform annual calibration testing on gamma probe systems used for lymphoscintography.
- Maintain radiation dosimetry monitoring program for radiation workers using personnel dosimeters and review associated dosimetry records; handle & distribute of radiation dosimetry for personnel.
- Perform surveys and decontamination of areas of radioactive material use and storage, as needed.
- Ship & receive survey equipment for calibration & repair.
- Assist with shipping of radioactive QC sources.
- Assist with leaded apparel integrity checks.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a physical, biological or other related science, or
Master’s degree in Physics, Health Physics, other physical science, or engineering (preferred)
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience in health physics in a clinical setting involving radioactive materials & radiation sources.
Licenses/Certifications:
ABHP certification as a Certified Health Physicist, or ABMP certification in Medical Health Physics.
Meets the qualifications of an Associate RSO as per US NRC Title 10 CFR Part 35.50.
Qualifications:
Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
Excellent communication skills are essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
