What You'll Do
The NY Customer Sales and Solutions team implements programs that support our customers' and our communities transition to cleaner energy. These include both Commercial and Residential customer participation in Demand Response programs such as Commercial Load Relief, Smart Thermostats and behavioral programs that shift or reduce usage. The team is also responsible for the implementation of the EV Make-Ready Incentive program as well as the Residential EV Manage Charging programs that are designed to support the growth of EV adoption.
This internship opportunity will provide you with exposure to the full cycle of utility incentive programs from regulatory Orders to implementation design activities, data collection, analysis and reporting/metrics design, procurement and work with trade allies, customer engagement (opt-in/outs), including marketing (print, social, website and influencers and event management). Exposure to the technical aspects of utility operations including safety, how a utility makes money, manages the system and services in customers. Overview of load profiles, peak demand and demand management, on-site EV project inspections, analyzing trade ally quotes and cost sheets and being part of a fun, awesome and growing team at National Grid serving customers both big and small from points north and south of Buffalo expanding north along the scenic byways to Albany and beyond (including MA and UK).
You will be in Albany, NY working under a hybrid structure for the Summer. You must be located within a commutable distance to the identified work location for the Summer.

What You'll Need
- Availability to start on program start date, June 3, 2024
- Registered in school as a full-time student and continuing education full-time for Fall 2024 Semester
- Pursuing an Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental/Sustainability, Public Law, Consumer Behavior/Marketing, Finance, Political Science or related major
- Accumulated 18 or more credits and be 18 years of age
- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States
- Located within a commutable distance to the identified work location for the summer
- Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License

Salary Range
$17.00 - $23.00 an hour (Undergraduate Student)
$24.00 - $29.00 an hour (Graduate Student)
Candidates will be assessed and provided offers based on major, degree type, and class year. Our Gridtern Program does not offer relocation, housing assistance, or public transportation reimbursement for Gridterns; however, we can provide a list of resources to utilize in making your arrangements.
