Senior Project Cost Engineer/Estimator – Civil, Structural and Architectural (Senior Cost Engineer – CSA)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Cost Engineer - CSA  will work within the Project Cost Management Team , their primary focus will be in the areas of civil, structural and architectural elements of the project. This position will report directly to the Project Cost Manager. The Senior Cost Engineer role is devoted to the management of project cost, involving such activities as estimating, cost control, cost forecasting and risk analysis.  This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys project management but loves the detailed and complex nature of managing the cost components of a construction project.  An individual that is in a current project management role on a small to medium size project that is looking for an opportunity to hone their cost management skills on a large-scale project will enjoy the challenges and potential for career growth that this position may offer.  This position will work closely with the clients, subcontractors, and trade professionals.  

The Senior Cost Engineer – CSA will review subcontractor and vendor change order requests to validate if the costs are fair, reasonable and in line with contract requirements. The Senior Cost Engineer – CSA will assist in project cost forecasting. This position will be on the project site located in Sunnyvale, CA.

SALARY RANGE: $100,001 - $121,000 annually Depending on Experience

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Setup and maintain job cost reports, including budgets, commitments, forecasts, yet to buys, contingencies, and spends.
• Track costs by bid package, field order, and specific category of change as defined by the client.
• Setup and maintain project indicators, including visual graphics.
• Work with subcontractors and equipment/material vendors to validate cost proposals.
• Monthly reconciliation of project cost reports.
• Interpret design documents, construction documents, and technical manuals to quantify materials required for construction.
• Take-off of material quantities.
• Summarize quantities of materials in an orderly fashion.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience required.
• Education background in materials and methods of construction.

EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a project management, cost management and/or a cost estimating role for a general contractor or a specialty subcontractor focused on civil, structural, and/or architectural specific scope packages is required.
