Job Summary:             

The Production Superintendent will lead and direct supervisors and manage all operations within their area of responsibility. The Production Superintendent will be a part of the Shop Management Team and will enforce the Volvo Cars’ culture.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership in operations within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for future model launches in their area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate workshop activities through the planning with supervisors to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective method.
  • Develop and control cost, quality, delivery and safety objectives.
  • Implement cost effective CIP tools to improve operating expenditures, manpower, etc.
  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Provides leadership in implementation of 5S programs.
  • Provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisors.
  • Deliver set objectives in accordance with the shop’s Volvo Car Manufacturing System-scorecard.
  • Responsible for the daily production results within non-color area within Paint Shop.
  • Ensure the implementation of and adherence to Volvo Car Manufacturing System within the entire area of responsibility.
  • Work towards a lean organization.
  • Foster standardized work through QPS and daily coaching activities.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or 8-10 years of experience in a senior leadership role
  • At least 7 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing industry, preferably within Paint (Sealing Operations).
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strategic thinking and goal-oriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build a team, confidence and trust at all levels of the organization
  • Strong problem-solving/analysis skills
