Job Description:
Teaching Assistants (TAs) support instruction in one or more accounting courses varying by assignment to Accounting & Business Law faculty. TAs engage in comprehensive grading of assignments that may involve complex or open-ended questions, requiring subjective judgment and evaluation based on established grading rubrics or predefined criteria. Support may also include project management, office hours, tutoring sessions, and general class assistance. TAs will directly interact with Baylor faculty and students and should be able to work independently and be willing and able to improve software skills as needed.
- Responsibilities include a wide variety of teaching tasks, such as:
- Explaining business and accounting topics,
- Evaluating student work,
- Proctoring exams,
- Fostering students’ educational growth and development,
- Maintaining a safe and supportive environment,
- Ensuring confidentiality of all pertinent information, and
- Consistently fulfilling commitments in a timely manner.
Required skills include:
- Proficiency in Excel,
- Proficiency in skills and topics covered in the relevant course(s),
- Ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative,
- Excellent communication abilities,
- Ability to exercise judgment and give and receive constructive feedback, and
- Ability to comply with university policies.
Preferred skills include:
- Proficiency in Power BI and/or Alteryx.
Pay rate depends on skills and experience.
- Assist students in a designated academic subject or discipline as needed
- Foster educational growth and development; identify educational needs and provide assistance as necessary
- Ensure confidentiality of all pertinent information
- Provide information and excellent customer service to constituents
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
