Position Summary:

The Director of Product Management will lead the next chapter of growth for a unique information product in the healthcare space. Epocrates functions as a drug and reference app for healthcare professionals. Under the surface lies a swath of tools and medical news that requires a vision to connect the information into an innovative solution that can deliver at the point of care.

epocrates Product and Team: 

epocrates is a clinical reference app used by over 1M physicians and health care providers annually to make the best patient care decisions about medication and treatment. With the epocrates+ paid offering, subscribers can access additional premium clinical content for a monthly or annual fee.  

Our multi-disciplinary team of SMEs -- front and backend engineers, product management veterans, medical doctors, PharmDs, visual designers, UX researchers, data experts, and more -- work together to create a product for health care providers that enables them to deliver the best possible care to their patients while saving valuable time.  

This is a remote role with a preference for candidates in the northeast or central time zones.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with your engineering and design peers to develop the product vision and communicate it effectively within the team and with fellow stakeholders.

  • Translate the product vision and strategy into an outcome-based roadmap aligned with business priorities.

  • Drive the next level of product-led growth for epocrates, focused on continuing to deliver the best medical and drug information to our users while identifying innovative experiences that can help solve problems at the point of care.

  • Build and grow a unique membership business focused on the value proposition for customers.

  • Understand all aspects of the advertising business and how to drive value for clients and users within the epocrates app and web experience.

  • Work closely with your medical information partners, identifying tools and features that can drive engagement across devices.

  • Work with the product team to ruthlessly prioritize tactics, taking a data driven and test and learn approach to make decisions.

  • Speak for the product and ensure alignment in the overall strategy.

  • Drive portfolio planning process for assigned product area.

  • Remove blockers/obstacles to effective and efficient product delivery for Product Owners and their scrum teams.

  • Drive all Product Launch decisions including the management of all alpha/beta feedback.

  • Manage the priorities and expectations of multiple stakeholders (e.g., customer, sales, partners) to gain inputs to portfolio.

  • Engage Product Marketing on the best ways to communicate the product to customers; have editorial ownership of the service description.

  • Travel required 15%; time may vary and will include client site visits, conferences, trade shows, Sales and Marketing events, and trainings.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a team of epocrateans, modeling effective relationship building, ensuring high employee engagement and managing staff career progression.

  • Contribute to workforce planning, staffing/forecasting of resource requirements, continually assessing and optimizing team structure as well as processes, policies and procedures to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness direct/indirect reports.

  • Responsible for development of direct reports by identifying training needs and providing training and/or development opportunities.

Typical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.

  • Digital media and ad tech experience is a huge plus.

  • 10+ years relevant product management experience.

  • Technical understanding (mobile, SaaS, data) – ability to gut check technical feasibility and timelines and remove technical development barriers.

  • Experience bringing products to market.

  • Understanding of product management best practices, including agile development environments; Agile certification a plus.

  • Demonstrated success at driving innovation in a dynamic environment.

  • Experience leading teams and managing direct reports.

  • Understanding of healthcare / health IT environment is a plus but not required
