Job Description

The Senior Associate Director of Site Optimization - EM (DSO) drives change, innovation, and process improvements within their assigned region by developing a daily continuous process improvement (CPI) culture to improve patient care. The DSO will collaborate with the regional vice presidents within their assigned division to coach and guide the site medical directors on leadership effectiveness and CPI designed to assist them in achieving annual goals, including resource management/budget and operational performance metrics. The DSO builds the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) into all facets of the operation, including daily local cadence for stability and problem-solving, leadership support, and coaching for daily improvement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with all RVPs in their assigned division to identify the highest priority sites requiring improvement.
  • Independently manage relationships with the sites in their division, building relationships not only with the Medical Directors but also with the hospital and departmental leaders, particularly nursing leadership
  • Serves as a change facilitator, develops and collaborates with site directors and functional leaders, and influences organizational leadership in the transformation to and/or in support of a continuous process improvement/learning culture.
  • Manage travel to sites while remaining fiscally responsible.
  • Monitor key Quality, Safety, Operations, NPS, hNPS, and daily site productivity (DSP) metrics to identify improvement opportunities and track site progress toward goals.
  • Monitor contract incentive metrics for assigned sites, develop action plans for improvement, and report progress to CRG Senior Director and regional vice presidents.
  • Develop timelines with each site for work to be completed. Using the PDCA tracking sheet to manage and monitor progress.
  • Develop Leader Standard Work for each Medical Director, freeing up time to focus on leadership activities.
    • Engage and coach Medical Directors in department walk-throughs focusing on observation of process flow as well as coaching their team.
    • Assist with goal development and ensure SMART format is being utilized.
  • Work with onsite leadership to develop a daily dashboard for following departmental progress.
  • Collaborate with onsite leadership to develop a committee of frontline staff to refine the flow continuously.
  • Assist sites with the development of any needed documents/tools to support CPI and provide communication to their staff.
  • Collaborate with the USACS analytics team on PDCA data needs.
  • Develop CPI communication and education plans.
  • Provide a bi-weekly status report keeping RVPs and Presidents updated on site status.
  • Lead large-scale process improvement projects, including building and maintaining project work plans, providing written weekly status reports, facilitating weekly project champions meetings, and developing visual tracking for progress.
  • Works as the CRG Senior Director directs to assist across divisions/regions.
  • Initiate, maintain, and share best practices to be shared across the organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong managerial and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Proven success with root cause analysis and process improvement
  • In-depth knowledge of ED operations and patient flow
  • Independently driven, with the capabilities to lead teams, manage improvement projects, and site goals, objectives, and initiatives.
  • Superior time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in developing a culture of CPI and sustainment of improvements. 
  • Solid knowledge and demonstrated understanding of improvement methodologies: Strategy Deployment, A3 development and management, Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5s/Visual Management, Standard Work, P
