As the Human Resources (HR) Director at Room & Board, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our people-first culture, which is rooted in respect, authenticity, and shared success. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you’ll lead a high-performing team to drive strategic, forward-thinking initiatives that align with our values and fuel long-term success.

You’ll partner with senior leaders to integrate people strategies into business planning, shaping decisions that elevate both culture and performance. With a strong focus on leadership development, performance management, and culture and engagement, you’ll be a key architect of our evolving workplace—one that supports growth, innovation, and belonging.

Please note: This role is hybrid, working 3-4 days in the office. We are not currently considering fully remote candidates. 

 

You will share your talents as an HR Director in the following ways:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, integrating people strategies into operational and strategic planning.
  • Lead and coach a team of HR Business Partners and a Compensation Manager, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and exceptional delivery.
  • Guide the execution of compensation initiatives aligned with our total rewards philosophy and the full employee experience.
  • Provide thought leadership in the planning and delivery of core HR processes including performance management, talent development, succession planning, and change management.
  • Champion staff member engagement by understanding talent needs, managing performance, and mitigating people risk.
  • Oversee Room & Board’s performance management philosophy, ensuring staff members are welcomed, supported, and managed with rigor and respect.
  • Build authentic relationships across the organization, seeking and responding to feedback to enhance the staff member experience.
  • Collaborate with HR team members to support initiatives in change management, talent acquisition, well-being, and total rewards.
  • Lead and support Belonging & Inclusion strategies to ensure a fair, inclusive, and celebratory work environment.
  • Advise on complex investigations and compliance matters, ensuring legal interests are protected across multiple geographies.
  • Analyze HR metrics to inform strategic decisions and drive continuous improvement.

The knowledge, education, and experience you’ll bring as HR Director:

  • 10+ years of progressive HRBP experience, including 5+ years leading a team of HR Business Partners.
  • Proven success in leading HR strategy within a values-driven, employee-owned or mission-based organization.
  • Deep expertise in staff member engagement, leadership coaching, compensation, workforce planning, and change management.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking to align HR initiatives with business goals.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, coaching, and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for informed decision-making.
  • Proven experience of managing staff member relations, compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and partner effectively with senior leadership.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring leaders at all levels organizationally.
