Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

We are looking for an ambitious and responsible Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Intuitive, you will be responsible for creating and enforcing a culture of safety within our organization.

The EH&S Specialist will identify and coordinate all relevant site activities around Intuitive’s environmental impact including, but not limited to, relevant environmental aspects, significant impacts, and objectives/ targets.

The individual will work closely with the local process owners and business partners to ensure requirements are duly met by the site and, additionally, assessing, documenting, and addressing all relevant changes with impact to environment and safety for our employees and overall operations.

The EH&S Specialist supports internal and external audits at the site and will report relevant information on periodic basis to the corporate EMS and relevant internal organizations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate shall:

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant legal rules and regulations
  • Educate and oversee employees on health and safety procedures and regulations
  • Always ensure the company is prepared to submit all relevant health and safety documents
  • Encourage and promote the use of safer work equipment, materials and supplies
  • Track the number of incidents and produce reports
  • Monitor exposure to certain hazardous chemicals
  • Liaise with Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and other relevant regulatory organizations
  • Keep abreast of industry and market trends and best practices

Qualifications

Skill/Job Requirements:

  • Minimum College or University degree in science or engineering preferred; or equivalent training/experience which may include exposure to the implementation or maintenance of Environmental Management System or other Management Systems
  • Minimum 2-5 years management system experience, ideally in the medical device industry or with EH&S
  • Influential personality with excellent interpersonal, strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong administrative and record keeping skills
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or other management systems, such as ISO 9001 and or ISO 13485
  • Strong knowledge in local, state level, national and international laws and regulations related to protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees
  • Proven track record of providing training support to employees
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion within a broadly defined range of policies and practices. This includes analytical problem solving.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, including action oriented, focused urgency and driving for results
  • Ability to be effective in complex projects with ambiguity and/or rapid change
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize and schedule work to meet business needs
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with others in team environment; effective interactions in cross department teams
  • Computer literacy (PC, Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Outlook), experience with Agile a plus
