Head of Medical Affairs | Special Projects

Amazon is looking for a Head of Medical Affairs to join an exciting new project team working to build a completely new, best-in-class medical device product. Our team is fast paced, highly collaborative and is organized like a startup.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and leading a net new medical affairs team for new products. The candidate will need to use high judgement and consistently Think Big to make convincing, data-based arguments. This includes providing leadership for clinical evidence generation strategy, scientific and compliance oversight for Amazon-sponsored and Investigator Initiated Research, and medical and scientific interactions with key opinion leaders.

This critical role is part of Amazon’s team focused on building new, large-scale solutions aimed at creating positive impact in the world. This team thinks big across a wide range of industries and topics to create, launch, and manage products such as Comprehend Medical, Echo Frames and Amazon Explore. Key job responsibilities

• Facilitates Company-sponsored clinical studies and investigator-initiated research.
• Keeps abreast of professional information and technology through conferences and/or medical literature and acts as a resource for the team.
• Ensures budgets, timelines, compliance requirements are factored into programs' medical and scientific activities.
• Establishes review standards and oversees a review committee process for the review and approval of both promotional and non-promotional materials to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and regulatory guidance.
• Provides guidance to cross-functional team members to aid in the creation of promotional materials and non-promotional materials, including publications, scientific or technical literature, and training, education, and disease-state awareness materials.
• Runs a net new medical affairs and medical information team independently with little supervision.
• Leads the development of global opinion leader mapping (identification, profiling, segmentation) across pipeline areas and indications for use to facilitate scientific exchange and clinical research.
• Serves as the medical interface between Amazon and the scientific and healthcare professional communities, and develops and maintains relationships with medical advisors to assist with domain expertise as appropriate.
• Provides medical and/or scientific data and formation about Amazon products and research to healthcare professionals and decision makers.
