Business Unit Overview
This position is part of Novanta’s Cambridge Technology business unit. Cambridge Technology designs, develops, and manufactures innovative beam steering solutions, including polygon and galvanometer optical scanning components, 2-axis and 3-axis scan heads, scanning sub-systems, high power scanning heads, and controlling hardware and software
As a Manufacturing Assembly Supervisor, you'll provide first-level people leadership in a frontline setting. You'll coordinate and supervise the daily activities of a team. You'll ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively within established guidelines. You will be accountable for achieving high quality standards and efficient production processes.
Primary Responsibilities
· Manages team effectively to ensure we meet key deliverables including safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity for your assigned assembly line.
· Effectively manages and promotes positive employee relations by acting as first point of contact for preventing and resolving employee concerns and conflicts.
· Able to read, understand, and adhere to work instructions, BOMs, and assembly drawings.
· Plan & coordinate effective dynamic resource allocation (DRA) to ensure max efficiency and productivity output with your team.
· Leads and drives execution of continuous improvement and lean efforts within their team and the overall facility.
· Understands and leads problem solving initiatives within team using Novanta Growth System (NGS) tools and techniques.
· Actively manages capabilities risks and supports employee skill development through actively managing and encouraging cross training for all members of the team.
· Effectively and regularly communicates positive feedback, as well as opportunities for improvement to team members.
· Ensures working environment is safe, clean and orderly through the promotion of 5S, daily cycle counts and other methodologies.
· Participate and champions plant safety and employee engagement activities.
· Delegates and communicates work clearly to team
· Drives to potential root causes for issues and implements process improvement activities
· Ability to perform and track Preventive Maintenance activities
· Demonstrate inventory management skills through holding team accountable for on time material transactions and daily cycle counting requirements
· Demonstrates through leadership and actions the Novanta Values
· Models and champions the Novanta Way initiatives
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
· Prior manufacturing operations leadership experience
· Working experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma environments
· Knowledge of and experience working within an ISO 9001 and 13485 quality environments
