D&E Group
The Design Engineering EMEA team drives the technology, innovation, and development of data centre infrastructure across Vantage’s companywide portfolio.  D&E evaluates new sites in line with corporate goals and serves as subject matter experts across the entire project lifecycle from concept through design, construction, commissioning, and sales. Position Description

Vantage is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to be part of our design & engineering team, steering innovative design and engineering solutions for our data centre projects. In this multifaceted role, you’ll manage the design development process, collaborating with the broader design team, our construction management, and equipment procurement teams. Tasked with engineering challenges, you will lead investigations using diverse tools and resources to identify the best solutions for the business.

A comprehensive understanding of all facets of electrical engineering, including UPS systems, generators, and data centre distribution topologies, is essential.


Essential Job Functions

  • Investigate new technologies, solutions, and develop business cases for implementation.

  • Participate in all aspects of electrical design and engineering including conceptual design, basis of design, scope of work, development of construction documents

  • Drive project-level tasks and milestones

  • Subject matter expert responsible for technical reviews including designs, submittals, RFIs and engineering studies/assessments against business needs

  • Visit job sites for field investigations and coordination meetings


Duties

  • Develop and review project specifications, schematic drawings, design documents, submittals, and commissioning scripts.

  • Perform engineering analyses for loads, lighting levels, and short-circuit currents, including photometric, coordination, and arc flash mitigation studies.

  • Conduct distribution analysis focusing on voltage drop and underground duct bank heat effects.

  • Attend design meetings and ensure engineering standards and specifications are met in construction.

  • Review and provide feedback on project plans and participate in gating approvals.

  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams for optimised and streamlined product delivery.

  • Attend on-site job walks and meetings for hands-on project engagement.

  • Assist Site Operations in troubleshooting and tuning existing systems.

  • Execute additional tasks as directed by management.


Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited university or college, with substantial experience in electrical design and construction.

  • Possess a minimum of 5 years in electrical power design and construction, ideally 7

  • Preferred 3 years of specialised expertise in data centre design.

  • Working knowledge of critical power infrastructure within a data centre project from external power supply, to end circuit supply to the racks.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, Word, AmpCalc and ETAP modelling software

  • Understanding of Revit, BIM and Navisworks environments

  • Working knowledge of all building and fire codes, including IEC standards

  • National and international travel required is expected to be 10 to 15%, but may increase over time as the business evolves
