Project Architect - Critical Facilities - Senior

Your Role  

As a Gensler Project Architect for Critical Facilities, Industrial and Life Sciences in Gensler's Columbus office, you will collaborate with our Practice Area Leaders and Design Directors to develop design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project. What You Will Do  

• Collaborate on design projects in the critical facilities, industrial and life sciences, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and documentation  

• Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives  

• Documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.)  

• Assist in resolving complex technical and design issues  

• Assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination  

• Provide project team coordination for the finished plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction  

• Participate in the construction administration of projects and review of submittals and finish samples  

• Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs  

Your Qualifications  

• Bachelor's degree Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a professionally accredited program 

• Licensure required   

• 10+ years of experience in the profession of architectural design 

• Experience within Critical Facilities projects (i.e. data centers, command and control centers, high-performance computing, etc.) or similarly complex projects (i.e. science/labs/national labs, light-industrial/manufacturing, high-tech manufacturing, healthcare, aviation & transportation, etc.) preferred  

• Proficiency with SketchUp, 3D Max, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred, but not required   

• Strong Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office experience desired. AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, Enscape, VRay also beneficial  

• Experience managing multiple aspects of client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and civil consultants   

• Experience working directly with contractors   

• Experience in resolving complex technical and design issues   

• Experience performing zoning and code analysis in multiple jurisdictions
