ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Orlando or Tampa, FL, office is seeking an entry-level engineer to join our Transportation Practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team.
Responsibilities
- Work on projects involving traffic signal timing optimization and implementation to maximize transportation system throughput (using SYNCHRO, Tru-Traffic TS PPD, and similar programs), required field work.
- Develop understanding of traffic signal operations, including familiarity with various controller types and platforms, design, and systems
- Support traffic safety and operational improvement studies for localized intersections and corridors
- Provide analyses of traffic safety issues and crash reduction measures
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- The ability to manage multiple assignments
- A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge with MicroStation preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of FDOT design specifications and requirements
- Expertise with Synchro and SimTraffic; experience with VISSIM a plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
- 0-1 years of engineering experience
- EIT certification preferred or the ability to acquire within a year
