About the role:

The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of payroll tax compliance. This role requires close collaboration with our outsourced tax filing partner to ensure timely and accurate tax filings, resolving complex tax issues, and staying current with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. The Payroll Tax Analyst operates independently, applying advanced payroll principles and knowledge to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures. They design and implement payroll audit processes and methodologies, review open payroll cases with the outsource provider, and manage initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Validating and confirming tax filings using applied audit principles and designed controls.
  • Developing tools to monitor tax agency notices and tracers, resolve issues, and track trends.
  • Maintain company state and local tax jurisdiction registrations.
  • Reconcile third party tax reports and payroll tax reports to ensure accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Developing, managing, and implementing continuous process improvement initiatives, standardization, and efficiency goals in collaboration with the outsource partner.
  • Filing and reporting local taxes, workers compensation, and labor statistics with agencies.
  • Contributing to year-end planning and year-end processes.
  • Managing to completion payroll continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Organize and facilitate on-going development, evaluation, and maintenance of documentation of payroll procedures using flow charts and SOPs.
  • Participate in the year end / begin project and support delivery of accurate and timely annual wage and tax statements.
  • Respond to payroll tax inquiries from employees and tax authorities.
  • Maintain accurate payroll tax records and documentation.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll tax laws and regulations.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years of U.S. payroll tax experience in a multi-state, multi-entity environment
  • Experience with payroll tax impacts on executive benefits, global mobility and stock options

Preferred qualifications:

  • SuccessFactors and Ceridian Dayforce payroll experience
  • Canada payroll tax experience
