This full-time Medical Front Office Clerk position will have 40 hour/week schedule (including weekends), the schedule is variable: Monday-Friday between 6:15am - 3:15pm and 9am-6pm and Saturdays from 6:30 am - 3:00 pm (hours may vary), and is located at the Jim and Eleanor Randall Breast Center in Pasadena, CA.
Pay Range: $21/hour
In this vital role you will be the first point of contact with patients and visitors; you will serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff. The ideal candidate will need to communicate well, be organized, and to take initiative to provide the best patient care possible.
What You Will Do:
- Greet and check in patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
- Verify necessary information and records in the medical record.
- Maintain and update current information on physicians and technologists schedules.
- Answer telephone, screen calls, takes messages, and provide information.
- Answer questions regarding patient appointments and testing.
- Assemble patients’ charts for next day visit. Update profiles on all patients.
- Oversee waiting area, coordinate patient movement, report problems or irregularities.
- Call referring physicians offices for orders and/or correct orders.
- Perform other front office tasks as needed
What You Will Bring:
- High school graduation or GED.
- One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office or imaging center setting.
- Word processing and computer experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic medical terminology and computer skills.
- Thorough knowledge of insurance both Commercial and Managed Care.
- Basic understanding of ICD-10 and CPT codes.
Physical Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with extensive contact with individuals and frequent interruptions. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Must be able to see in the normal visual range with or without correction. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
