About the role:

As Head of Fleet Underwriting, you’ll have the opportunity to lead multiple teams of high performing underwriters, protect our loss ratio performance, and support scaling our top line. You’ll work closely with our Business Development organization to cultivate strong relationships with our existing and future agency partners. Additionally, you’ll partner with our Product, Marketing, and Business Operations teams to proactively solve anything getting in the way of our top and bottom line goals.

What you’ll do:

• Manage, coach, and continue to scale a remote team of Underwriters and Underwriting Managers 

• Ensure that UW controls are followed and make corrective actions based on the latest emergence of loss ratio performance

• Develop strong relationships with agency partners to help Nirvana achieve top line goals 

• Partner with Marketing, Product, and Business Operations leaders to drive cross functional initiatives   

• Contribute to the development of cutting edge underwriting systems utilizing AI and telematic data

About you:

• Track record of managing $100M-$500M books of middle market commercial insurance accounts, specifically in trucking 

• 7+ year of experience building and managing teams of underwriters and managers  

• Strong communication skills, both written & verbal

• Thorough critical thinker who isn’t afraid to make decisions

• Self-starter who independently seeks out opportunities to learn & succeed

• Bias-to-action - you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty & stretch yourself

• Owner mentality - take accountability for your actions & results

• Successfully able to work in high-growth & ambiguous start-up environments
