About the role

Mach is a defense manufacturing company that builds munitions to help the United States win future wars. Backed by $85M in funding from top venture firms, our small lean team ideates, designs, manufactures, and sells cutting-edge weapons to the Department of Defense.

At Mach Industries, we build next-generation platforms that maintain an allied American edge. The future of warfare lies in decentralized unmanned systems, and we aim to produce these platforms at scale using flexible, adaptable factories. As the Head of Mechanical Engineering, you will work at the intersection of innovation and execution, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to design mechanical and structural systems that support modular, scalable production and ensure that our platforms deliver reliability, adaptability, and strategic value.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development efforts focused on U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and the broader intelligence community, driving growth through strategic partnerships, contract wins, and delivery of mission-critical solutions.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to expand the company’s presence within SOCOM and intelligence agencies, ensuring alignment with their evolving operational and technological needs.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior military and intelligence officials, program managers, and key decision-makers across SOCOM and the intelligence community.

  • Identify, pursue, and secure high-value opportunities in areas such as autonomous systems, AI/ML, ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance), and other cutting-edge technologies.

  • Act as the company’s principal representative to SOCOM and intelligence agencies, attending key industry events, briefings, and operational exercises to promote the company’s capabilities.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, product development, and operations, to ensure the delivery of tailored solutions that meet SOCOM and intelligence mission requirements.

  • Provide market insights by analyzing operational trends, budget priorities, and competitive landscapes within SOCOM and the intelligence community.

  • Oversee the capture and proposal development process for SOCOM and intelligence contracts, ensuring compliance with government requirements and alignment with mission objectives.

  • Ensure all activities adhere to government contracting regulations, export controls, and classified program guidelines.

  • Champion the integration of emerging technologies into the company’s offerings to meet the rapidly evolving needs of special operations and intelligence customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, sales, or program management within the defense or intelligence sectors, with a proven track record of success.

  • Deep understanding of SOCOM and the U.S. intelligence community, including their missions, structures, procurement processes, and operational priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to win and execute complex contracts, including those involving classified or highly sensitive programs.

  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to engage senior military and intelligence leaders.

  • Experience with government contracting processes, including FAR/DFAR regulations, IDIQ contracts, OTAs, and other acquisition vehicles.

  • Direct experience working with or within SOCOM or the intelligence community, including familiarity with programs such as SOF AT&L, COCOM initiatives, and agency-specific technology needs.

  • Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain a clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established network of contacts within SOCOM and intelligence agencies, including both uniformed personnel and civilian leadership.

  • Expertise in advanced technologies, including unmanned systems, ISR platforms, and artificial intelligence applications.

  • Experience managing classified programs, including compliance with DoD security regulations and classified facility requirements.

  • Strong understanding of global and regional security trends impacting SOCOM and intelligence operations.

This role requires a seasoned business leader with deep domain expertise, a strategic mindset, and the ability to drive growth within SOCOM and the intelligence community while delivering impactful solutions to mission-critical challenges.
