Mission

Do you see yourself as part of a Tech Strategy & Execution (TSE) that is central to driving company-wide complex technical initiatives in today's business environment? Do you have strong subject matter expertise in software design architecture and analysis? Do you have a strong background in system design and the data analysis required for defining must have capabilities for a Platform? Are you execution-oriented with attentive detail to driving platform enhancements and improvements across the technology? If you answered yes to the above, then you might be the right person to be the TSE Technical Program Manager.

The TSE org is critical to Coupang business strategy. This role will be responsible for full ownership & end-to-end project charter, delivery & execution starting from Product & Service Definition, Functional Design, Engineering execution Lifecycle with a Customer focus and Customer lifecycle management for Coupang’s Platform. You will be part of a Global team working from various locations but still work as a centrally connected unit. Within Product & Service Definition the role helps create design options for features being enabled by scenarios. For Product & Service Design this role mediates feature priorities and applies design tradeoffs aligning to business requirements. This can also include defining business & technical requirements, so business acumen blended with strong technical understanding of technologies is a must. In Customer Lifecycle this role collaborates with stakeholders and educates on adoption by explaining scenarios effectively. In Engineering Lifecycle this role defines the design iteration process for the team and organization. In Product & Service Ownership this role has a sense of pride and ownership in end-to-end quality and product stewardship. This role will possess a strong blend of technical, business, and project management experience that enables effective management of tangible solutions.

About the Role

This role will be responsible for leading the TPMs that partner with the all the organizations across Coupang. This includes recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and developing the strongest and most technical team of TPMs at Coupang. Now and for the near future, a large percent of the company’s engineering roadmap is dedicated to projects and programs owned by the platform team to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency of those platforms, in addition to leading complex feature deliveries on these platforms. Thus, this position will be challenging and a fantastic opportunity to significantly impact on the company's future success. This team has ownership of defining project scope and driving delivery & execution of company-wide initiatives. They will be deeply involved in cross-team technical architecture and can take on a role in system design. They will also constantly be meeting with tech customer across the business to better understand what the platform team needs to accomplish next to unlock the potential of Coupang’s engineering org. You will be managing a team that is a catalyst that brings order to the chaos of some of the most critical programs at Coupang.
