Overview

We are currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support our Human Resources team in a hybrid of remote and on-site work out of Richland, WA.

 

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR Team and Senior Management. This position carries out responsibilities in all functional HR areas, including: Employee on- and off-boarding, benefits administration, employee relations, union relations, training, performance management, compensation, HRIS administration, policy implementation, employment matters, affirmative action and employment law compliance. In addition, the HR Generalist will support other projects and initiatives. 

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for onboarding and out-processing. 
  • Maintains organized records of personnel files, benefits plans, and labor relations files. 
  • Administers and tracks FMLA, STD and other leave programs.  
  • Administers and tracks ADA related requests and participates in the interactive process. 
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). 
  • Advises, manages, and resolves complex employee relations issues in accordance with management; conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations. 
  • Fosters employee and union relations, both remote and onsite, handles the grievance process.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.  
  • Administers federal and state regulations. Solid knowledge of HR related laws, and regulations required. 
  • Assists with preparation/filing annual required reports, including but not limited to Affirmative Action, EEO-1 and Vets-100 reports. 
  • Administers compensation and performance appraisal programs.
  • Maintain HRIS and prepares standard and ad-hoc reports. 
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with executives, managers, & employees, and communicates effectively and confidentially with employees at all levels. 
  • Develops solutions, programs, and policies in accordance with management and the organization’s strategies/goals. 
  • Assists in the implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation. 
  • Works closely with management and employees to support positive work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. 
  • Takes initiative to enhance department’s and organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments and departmental bottom line.
  • Develops Human Resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, creating reports and presentations, presenting and discussing findings, and recommending course of action.
  • Applies policies consistently and equally and acts up to highest ethical standards at all times.
  • Completes special projects by clarifying project objectives, setting timetables and schedules, conducting research, developing and organizing information, fulfilling transactions, and presenting findings with tools such as spreadsheets and PPT presentations.
  • Assists on other projects with duties as described above and performs other duties as assigned.  

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Human Resources Management and at least 6 years of generalist experience in all Human Resources functions.
  • Experience in all human resource disciplines, including employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, compensation practices, HRIS administration, performance management, and solid knowledge in federal and state employment laws. 
  • Experience partnering with management in resolution of employee relations issues and performance/disciplinary issues. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and to work independently under minimum supervision. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
