Key Responsibilities
Oversees the prevention of employee accidents and injuries. Responsible for ensuring and documenting that all department employees and extended workers receive and follow appropriate department training including Environmental, Health and Safety training. Implements, emphasizes importance of, and monitors compliance to appropriate safety policies and procedures.
Manages operations across multiple work areas (buildings). Collaborate with other logistics departments and manufacturing business units to safely deliver materials on-time and complete per current service level agreements.
Determines staffing requirements based on operational needs; ensures effective recruitment, training, and retention of key staff to enable staff development. Identifies and assesses high performing talent and develops personnel to include training and career development; facilitates the performance management process to include the development of team and individual goals, implementing employee development plans, and coaching. Manages the employee selection, hiring, reward and discipline processes.
Participates in operational meetings. Supports the development and tracking of organization performance metrics. Schedules and conducts milestone meetings. Responsible for meeting or improving cycle time performance and other metrics. Ensures timely response to operations issues impacting customer satisfaction; acts as an interface in the establishment of and ensuring conformance to customer/vendor requirements; prepares detailed analysis of cost of quality opportunity and initiates corrective actions.
Reviews and assesses for opportunities for continuous improvement in operations. Participate in or lead projects to create efficiencies in operations, enhancements in technology, cost savings to operations, or safety improvements.
Administers company policies, including yearly performance review, that directly affect subordinate employees.
Other Requirements: This position may require standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools.
This position involves work in a warehouse and dock environment, so the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment including safety vest, hard hat, protective footwear, and eye covering may be used.
Functional Knowledge
- Works on issues where analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors.
- Extensive practical knowledge of business operating systems including SAP and general office software such as Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Functional knowledge of Replenishment process

- Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Recommends changes to logistics processes and policies. Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives.

- Has formal supervisory responsibilities; Sets priorities for and coaches to employees to meet daily deadlines and metrics related to performance objectives.
- Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees.
Problem Solving
- Exercises judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
- Proactively initiates continuous improvement activities within operational scope.
Impact
- Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules.
- Impacts the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team and its contribution to the successful delivery of logistics operational goals.
Interpersonal Skills
- Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedules.
- Uses tact and diplomacy to exchange information and handle sensitive issues. May be required to interact with outside customers, vendors or suppliers.
